Herb W. Fluitt, Jr., President / CEO
Prior to founding The Phoenix Resource Group in January 2002, and subsequently HFluitt & Associates in January 2010; Herb spent the first 25 years of his career in the Hospitality industry, working his way from bartending with TG.I Friday's in 1976 to Assistant Manager, Manager and Executive General Manager. Herb also held positions as General Manager and Regional Director for Hard Rock Café International where he was primarily responsible with his Friday's experience for the site selection and opening of over 38 properties nationwide. In this arena Herb found his passion for "people coaching". After working for various full service concepts; including a second stint at TGI Friday's in the early eighties. The last ten years of this phase in Herb's career progression were spent with The Cheesecake Factory, Copeland's of New Orleans, McCormick & Schmidt's seafood , and completing this segment of his professional experience reaching a Joint-Venture partnership with a London Based Chain of Italian Bistros, San Marzano's Bistro in Georgetown, Washington DC.
With his passion for mentoring others in their career paths, he decided in 2002 with two other partners to form The Phoenix Resource Group, Inc. with an initial focus in the permanent placement of Staff Nurses, and Hospital based Pharmacist's nationwide. After a year or two of "growing pains" the firm carved out a niche through active membership in The Christian Recruiters Affiliates, a network of healthcare based, small owner driven Search Firms and Consultants which allowed The Phoenix Resource Group to grow into the larger and more focused consulting and permanent placement of "C" level Executives in the Acute Care Hospital environment. The Firm's business model also includes Nursing at the Director level up to and not limited to the Chief Nursing Executive. Herb has served as a mentor to numerous professionals in need of sound and ethical counsel in the gradual steps of their career path.
After consulting with his business partner, Jeffrey Blanding, the firm decided in 2004 to change the strategic approach of The Phoenix Resource Group Inc. to a search firm that would meet the needs not addressed by traditional search firms, i.e., the demand of a high quality search, combined with the flexibility in choice of services and pricing programs. The company delivers innovative and cost-effective custom solutions created from a full suite of modules, including market and compensation assessment, research strategy, candidate identification, in-depth telephone screens and evaluation, candidate verification services, structuring and negotiation. In 2006 the firm branched out from healthcare into University Medical Schools, and Schools of Nursing. The firm's initial success has been a partnership with Florida International University, sourcing, interviewing and presenting Candidates for the new School of Medicine, and The existing School of Nursing.
Herb's desire to give and receive sound counsel has led to him forming the "Mentor's Circle" with some of his most trusted business associates. The members of the Mentor's Circle meet via teleconference monthly to discuss individual businesses, offer support, counsel, and strategic alliances, with the goal of strengthening the business operations in each of their respective areas of expertise. The long term vision of the group is to identify and offer assistance to small business owners, or start ups and help them to avoid the mistakes commonly made when beginning a business.
The group began in January 2010 and continues group calls and individual one-on-one meetings as they are needed. With the experience and expansion of The Phoenix Resource Group, the partners felt it was the right time to form HFluitt & Associates, Inc. which began operations on January 2, 2010.
This has enabled each business to focus on their individual business models without the encumbrance of shifting their resources to other projects. .
